The Ujima Way Support Network - the people who help make the difference!
When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion.

African Proverb

Our vision is that Ujima Way, Inc. will become the urban community’s most trusted philanthropic leader for collecting, managing and disseminating charitable contributions to high performing grass roots organizations within the community. Likewise, we will offer innovative and world class technical support services to help implement and impact new and existing programs and strategic initiatives.

To this end, we will build and sustain a committed and passionate crowd sourcing network comprised of affiliates, members, partners and donors who share the responsibility of each other achieving success. Our goal and focus is to raise funds and charitable contributions for our affiliate and member agencies who are working at the grass roots level to positively impact the communities in which we live.

The efforts of Ujima Way are funded in four distinct ways. Either by grants, through contracts, by the charitable contributions of our Partners, who are individuals and corporations who contribute at varying levels ranging from $1,000 and up, or by our donor’s whose contributions range from $1.00 up to $999.

The Ujima Way Academy

While Ujima Way does provide direct services through our own programs and initiatives, a greater percentage of the work being performed within the community, is being done by our grassroots partners participating in The Ujima Way Academy. The Ujima Way Academy is a four-year partnership in which nonprofits enrolled in The Academy receive world class technical support and training to help grow and sustain their efforts. As close to 50% of all new nonprofits fail within the first three to five years, The Academy will provide our partner agencies with the technical expertise and know-how to grow from surviving to thriving. Our partners, who are carefully selected to participate in The Academy, are comprised of Affiliate and Member agencies, who have a proven track record of delivering high impact programs at a meaningful level.

MORE INFO
Membership Levels

Ujima Way will recruit and select three programs or organizations in 7 of the 8 priority areas, that will be the primary focus the Academy's training and support. These 21 agencies will represent, Ujima Way's freshman class. Each year we will recruit 21 new agencies to form a new freshman class and promote the former class to sophomores. This process will continue until the 4th year, when seniors graduate and become Alumni. Alumni members then give back by helping to mentor current members in The Academy.

Of the 3 agencies selected, one will represent each of the following membership levels to ensure that training and support is uniformly distributed to maximize the impact we will have throughout the communities we serve.

Developing Level:

Smaller grassroots programs and organizations that are operated by a small team of staff and volunteers who provide high quality work to support their cause.

Advancing Level:

Smaller, yet more advanced programs and organizations that are operated by small to medium sized teams of staff and volunteers with a track record of providing high quality programming and support services to one or more causes.

Excelling Level:

Medium sized organizations with a longer history and track record of providing positive results through meaningful and measurable programming that impacts and addresses a broad range of community needs.
